In-Home Mental Health Support Specialist

Part-time work with a child towards achieving age appropriate developmental tasks and developing specific social skills necessary for acceptable social interactions. Collaborate to design and provide activities that assist children in developing skills needed to live successfully in their homes. Help the child to identify current assets and strategies for acquiring new ones. Skill Builders may also work with the child’s family, including siblings, in teaching them how to best support the child in maintaining these skill sets. Activities may support areas such as completing schoolwork, being part of a team, handling money, activities of daily living, independent living skills and in accessing vocational skills training.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have experience working with children (experience with special needs children a plus);
  • High school diploma (college degree a plus)
  • Clearance by the State Child Abuse Registry and fingerprinting for a criminal history
    background clearance
    –OR–
  • Be staff of an OMH-certified Community Residence, including Crisis Residence

Locations include, but are not limited to: Bohemia, Bay Shore, Brentwood, Patchogue, Hempstead, Medford, Jamaica

Salary: $22.50 – $26 per service hour (based on education, training and experience) Schedule : Dependent on the needs of the family/families you work with and variable. Most families are need/prefer after-school, weekday hours.

Licensed Mental Health Practitioner

Part-time and full-time positions may be available for the right candidate.

Do you want to make a difference? Support 2-5 children in need towards achieving optimal functioning as a 1:1 worker in homes and communities. Work occurs in a variety of settings where the child lives, works, attends school, engages in services, and/or socializes. Common tasks include supporting skill development, teaching personalized coping strategies (such as anger management and desensitization), and improving effective communication.

Location: Work occurs in a variety of settings where the child lives, works, attends school, engages in services, and/or socializes. Job is per-diem.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a master’s or doctoral degree and have one of the following licenses:

  • Licensed Psychoanalysts
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselors
  • Licensed Creative Arts Therapist

We are looking for applicants with a valid driver’s license and vehicle. You must clear the State Child Abuse Registry, fingerprinting for criminal history, and other background requirements.

Location: We are based in Farmingdale, however, the worker would need to be willing to travel to homes across Long Island.

Salary: $60.00 per service hour, higher pay rate can be negotiated based on experience.
